A day in the life of a life in the night

We walk thru the speechless, pausing night,
soon to be ambushed by another day
we claim eyes, sort hearts, and continue to roam, amazed
within the worn labyrinth of love-
looking for hints, maybe, or signs on walls,
and we look into each other…
yet some faces sigh… in figments of ardour's imagination
they are mistakes and yet,
without them, the circle would be incomplete;
tears dangle, outrageous in their powers to attract;
eyes obscure the truth and yet the truth remains: 
only the eyes change…
beauty runs wild- which is as it should be.
but we are only free when we are chasing it…
indeed we are all born to follow- 
the simple price we must pay for being alive.
